Why may snoozing hurt your health?

When getting up after a late night is a herculean task, we are all guilty of pressing the snooze button many times. Despite the warning, sleep deprivation is harmful to your health, so avoid it wherever possible. In actuality, this daily cycle produces considerable sleep interruptions, which may lead to health problems.
Experts in pulmonary and sleep medicine at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai concur that pushing the snooze button results in sleep fragmentation and sleep inertia, neither of which is conducive to a restful night's sleep.
"The many stages of a person's sleep include NREM (Non-Rapid Eye Movement) and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. Each night, the human body progresses from light to profound sleep. Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is the deepest stage of sleep, often known as restorative sleep since it enables our muscles to completely relax " remarked Dr. Rai.
Sleep phases include NREM and REM. The body goes from light to deep sleep each night. "REM sleep is the deepest stage of sleep, known as restorative sleep as it relaxes our muscles," said Dr. Rai.
People have four to six 90-minute sleep cycles each day. Naps disrupt REM (dream) sleep. REM sleep lasts 5 to 10 minutes, although disturbances may raise blood pressure and heart rate. He added: "Instead of pressing snooze, embrace more beneficial behaviours. Dr. Rai urged patients to "go to bed and get up at the same time" and "drink good amount of fluid before bed."
He also said that smartphone usage late at night impairs sleep. "At least one hour before bedtime, turn off all electronic devices, including your computer and social media sites. The alarm clock should be set at an appropriate time. It is possible to shift the alarm clock to the other side of the room. If you continue to press the snooze button on your alarm clock, you will not wake up any more rested "The physician, Dr. Rai, said.
